The BOOYAH Counter Strike was obviously designed by someone who puts a lot of emphasis on the flash of a spinnerbait. In terms of getting the flashing this lure probably beats any other spinnerbait on the market. It has two blades on it which actually will counter-rotate to one another as it goes through the water. It really does a lot of flashing when it bounces sunlight off.

Another benefit to having two blades is that you will find a different vibration with the Counter Strike than other spinnerbaits. The look of how it goes through the water and the drag you will feel on your rod will be much different than probably most other spinnerbaits you have fished with in the past.

This is also a great all-day fishing lure. Since fish start going to deeper waters fairly early in the mornings on your hot August days, you can still fish this lure much later than you can anything that is top water. Since you can retrieve this at a few inches below the water or allow it time to sink and bounce it off of rocks, you can fish with this late into the afternoon and still catch plenty of bass or pike. Still, many people will use this over top water in the early mornings since it can also be retrieved at a very shallow depth.

Are you looking for a lure that is easy to fish with but still keeps a lot of top water action? The Arbogast Jitterbug is probably your answer. To be honest, there is really only one way I would recommend fishing this lure, and that’s to use it how it is designed. The small plate in the front was designed to cause the lure to shimmy back and forth by itself. Therefore, instead of having to use a slack retrieval method like walking the dog, you can just let the Jitterbug do a smaller side to side motion for you by a steady and medium speed retrieval.

Can The Arbogast Jitterbug Be Used For Night Fishing?

The noise on a Jitterbug is also very unique. Since you are doing a consistent retrieval and there is a consistent noise, many fishermen enjoy using this for any type of night bass fishing. What you will hear is a consistent popping noise that is produced by the way it disperses the water in front of the lure. Does This Lure Come In Different Models?

There are actually three different models. The vintage Heddon Tiny Torpedo does well with a slow stop and go type retrieval. After pulling it in a bit, wait until the rings are about three feet from the lure, then pull in a bit more line, and repeat. Or, you can work it like you might work a buzzbait with a steady retrieval. No matter if the water is nice and calm or it has a bit of a ripple, toss the Tiny Torpedo in and you'd be hard pressed not to have a story or two to tell.

The Heddon Lucky 13 is a lot bigger than the Tiny Torpedo. It doesn't have a prop attached, has three large treble hooks dangling from it's body and has a deep concave face. When on calm water, try popping it along slowly or pick up the pace a bit when the water is choppier.

Whichever of the vintage Heddon topwater lures you use, you will see, they still catch fish today like the day they first came to the fishing scene.

The treble hooks hanging from the lure are bright plated and the action from the jointed tail sends out some extra flash to the fish below. When fished slowly, the Jointed Jitterbug makes a sort of plop-plop sound. Reel it a bit faster and the plopping sound becomes a bit more frantic mimicking wounded prey having a heckuva struggle and needs to be put out of it's misery.

The Jitterbug, whether it be the straight bodied Jitterbug or the Jointed, offers awesome action when fished in the shallows at night. With the jointed tail, I tell you, the bass can't resist the side to side action. My favourite time to fish this lure is in the warmer summer months during a full moon. The Jitterbug howls to these big predators and they can't ignore. For even deadlier action try the Jitterbug Clicker.

One downfall that I've found with the Jointed variety of the Jitterbug is that the tiny screws come loose after catching several big fish, which in general doesn't take too long with this lure. Just keep a tool handy and keep an eye on the screws and tighten it up when necessary. It's worth the little bit of work and the extra attention, believe me.

I've pulled up everything from big bluegill, to 5,6,7 pound bass, to northerns and musky on this lure. I'm not kidding when I say the big fish will be tugging at this lure, so be sure to add some heavy abrasion resistant line to your spool, you don't want them wrapping you around something that can cause your line to break.

What Does The Bass Food Chain Mainly Consist Of?

You will find bass where the baitfish are. Minnows and other batifish are what the bass generally eat. OK, that's not news, where can the baitfish be found? Keep following the food chain. The baitfish feed on the Zooplankton which feed on Phytoplankton. So, let's find out where the patches of Zooplankton or Phytoplankton are and we'll find out where the bass (or other game fish) are spending there time. We could go as far as "creating" these patches ourselves and the fish will come to us! (more on that shortly)

Locating the Phytoplankton usually involves just finding areas of direct sunlight close to the shore, especially where there is a lot of green algae. Look at those spots, and if the water appears "stained" with a dark green or even black color, you are likely witnessing a patch of Phytoplankton! And what's happening there? A feeding frenzy and some hungry bass! Also, if you are able to locate lush patches of vegetation along the shoreline with some water runoff, those are the perfect conditions for Chlorophyll to grow. And where there's Chlorophyll, there is Phytoplankton.

You may also stumble across patches of Zooplankton when you are checking around for the dark green and black stains. The patches of Zooplankton aren't always in obvious locations like the Phytoplankton. They are tough to see from above the water but if the lighting conditions are just right you may see a large mass of what look like snowflakes dancing around, dubbed the "dancing snowflakes" by fishermen in the know. These spots are so hot and teaming with game fish that some serious anglers actually go the extra mile and buy specialized cameras that can look underwater for these dancing snowflakes!

So, if you are on the lookout for these patches, you can be sure your fishing will be kicked up a notch or two. Happy fishing!

What Is The Action Like With The BOOYAH Boo Jig?

The BOOYAH Boo Jig is designed very nicely with a flat bottom which will keep your hook upright as it is going through the water. It is not limited to its appearance in the water, however. It also comes with a rattling head on it which may not only produce a visually appealing meal for a bass, but might get their attention with the sound it makes as well.

Weedless Or Not Weedless?

Even though it has a weed guard on it, this does not mean you should only use the Boo Jig in heavy brush or weed beds. This is actually a jig that is also good for open water use. Some have said though that the weed guards may slip off or not work as intended. You may need to modify the weed guards if they are too stiff for your liking. You will need to test it out and see if it works for you. It could vary based on the environment you are fishing as well.

The Texas Rig is one of the most versatile of bass lures. You can fish it at any depth that you want, over top of any structure and right through the thickest of weeds. You can fish it at any speed that you want or just let it sit just below the surface and watch the bass come up from underneath to swallow it up! You can use different sized worms and other plastic baits like lizards and crawfish. You can use scent or leave it as is. You can add varying sizes of weights or leave the weight completely off. Often, when it's windy or you want to fish deeper water, you will include a bullet sinker of a larger size.

How To Tie A Texas Rig

1. Start by buying a Texas rig kit to be sure you have everything, then get your hands on some proven rubber worms.
2. If you plan to add weight to the lure, a bullet sinker works best. Some people will clip a sinker to the line. When using a bullet sinker, insert the line through the pointed end of the sinker.
3. Now, tie on an offset hook using your favorite knot. Use a hook with a sharp point since it must penetrate the body of the plastic bait as well as the mouth of the bass. Also, use a hook size that matches the size of the bait, in other words, use larger hooks for larger baits and smaller hooks for smaller baits. For example, when using a 6" worm, a size 2/0 hook is often used.
4. Poke the hook through the top of the bait. Go in about 1/4" as shown in the image below.
   
5. Turn the point of the hook and thread it through a bit so it pokes out of the side of the head of the bait.
6. Now slide the bait towards the eye of the hook. While you are sliding, twist the bait so that the point of the hook is facing the bait. Now the eye of the hook will be right at the top of the bait.
7. Now poke the hook through the body of the bait. Keep in mind that you want the bait to hang relatively straight so you will need to bend the bait a bit to hook it a bit lower down. When it pokes through the bait should lay straight. If it's a bit bent, don't worry, fish will still attack it, plus it may add a bit of action to the lure.
8. Now bury the hook point below the surface of the body to create a weedless setup. Generally the straighter you made it in the previous step, the less weeds will cling on to the lure while it's being fished. Take a look at the end result below.

With a slow retrieval, the paddle tail allows the bait to sway back and forth which produces something like a fast paced realistic movement. Therefore, you still have enough action to attract those lazy bass or pike, but keeping in line with something that looks very much like a minnow.

The Money Minnow is great for heavy brush and weeds. The Money Minnow comes with a pocket underneath where in the right setup the hook can set to keep it away from the weeds. However, when a fish strikes it, the hook is extremely functional because it has no material to push through before it becomes effective like you have with a lot of plastic worms.

Aside from the standard Money Minnow, there is also a Fat Money Minnow version which still has all the same great features, but adds a second slot which is used to place nail weights into it. This may allow you to fish deeper or swift moving water with the Fat Money Minnow.

The two size options are 3 ½ inch or 5 inch. The 5 inch is a fairly big bait which means that you probably will not find any small fish biting. This may be what you are looking for though. If you only want to catch a large fish, the five inch may be the way to go.

The shape itself allows this bait to be used with the fairly unique fishing method called wacky worming. This method might be used to be able to throw the bait a little bit farther as well as simulate a dying worm perhaps as it does have a radical action to it with this rigging style. It is produced by placing a hook in the middle of the YUM Dinger and if needed, placing tack weights to one end of the worm. The YUM Dinger will be easier to throw this way and will give it a significantly different action.

However, you are not limited to this either! If you are a finesse fishermen then the YUM Dinger is not something out of the ordinary for you. You can also fish this using the classic Texas style rig that many people are using with all kinds of plastic worms. This would be the ideal way to fish the YUM Dinger if you think you will be in a lot of weeds or brush.
